The Landing Restaurant

Arguably the most consistent fine dining meal to be had on the island can be found here. With indoor and outdoor seating options, this charming walled in establishment on Bay street is quintessential Briland. Proprietress Tracy Barry has filled the restaurant with gorgeous family photography that instantly transports you into the cultural richness of Harbour Island’s past. You have two dining options and we suggest you make it a point to enjoy both: breakfast and dinner. Served 8 - 11 am and until noon on Sundays, breakfast options include ricotta hotcakes with honey butter and bananas, mixed sprout herb and tomato omelettes, croque madames, and sourdough avocado toasts. If you’re in need of the hair of the dog, try a ginger fro, a classic bloody mary or champagne with Cuban guava liqueur. For dinner, favorite dishes include spicy stone crab capellini, chilli salt squid, the local fish (usually grouper), grilled lobster, and coconut chicken curry. Make sure you save room for a Belgian hot chocolate pudding. Dinner is served nightly from 6-10 pm and reservations are recommended.

The Queen Conch

If you want the best conch salad you could ever have, stroll down Bay Street to the Queen Conch. Lavon Percentie and her daughter expertly prepare this delicacy right before your eyes with great skill and precision. Hot sauce made from scotch bonnet peppers is offered in increments depending on your personal preference. For a unique flavor profile, try their “exotic” conch salad that balances citrus and spice with fresh mango and green apple. The queen conch runs on island time which is fine by most guests as the deck built out over the water is very pleasant especially for enjoying a couple Kaliks. Local tip- drop by and place your order a couple hours in advance so that when the mood strikes, you won’t have to wait.

The red velvet cake is very special as it really is a combination of moist red velvet and cheesecake frosting. Regardless if you are seated by the pool, at the chef’s table for a special celebration, or on the verandah, you will be made to feel like the most special guest in the restaurant. The bar is very well stocked and the bartenders serve up well crafted cocktails. Reservations are highly recommended.

Sip Sip

This bright lime beachfront establishment is THE hot spot at lunch. Mind the tricky schedule as they are closed Mondays and Tuesdays, and only serve lunch from 11:30 - 4 pm and do not accept reservations. Also, don’t expect to be seated for lunch if you arrive at 3:45 pm. You can try your luck at convincing them for a takeaway order, but they are usually too busy to accommodate this request. All this aside, Sip Sip is absolutely worth visiting. There is a menu of specials written up on a small board that changes daily. The mainstay staples that bring everyone back are the homemade hummus, the lobster quesadilla, the conch chili hotdog, and the fish sandwich. If you happen to catch the hot lobster and artichoke dip on the specials menu, order it- it’s worth every calorie. Sip Sip is also famous for it’s margaritas, lethal rum punch, mango daiquiris and sky juice. Incidentally, they sell their cheeky t-shirts along with a few other novelties worthy of perusal in their gift shop.
